The first day of January Bulgaria an Rumania enters to be full members of the European Union. They become to be the 26th and 27th members. Actually they will be included (as they negotiated) in the Niza treaty. But probably not many people know that with the act of adhesion to EU they ratified the European Constitution. So there will be 18 states in that 27 states EU that had ratified the new contract with Europe.

After the 2004 great enlargement of the EU to 10 new states the candidates, officially, were Bulgaria, Rumania, Croatia, Macedonia and Turkey. The two first ones were candidates with those 10 states who entered the EU in 2004, so they had preference to be new members. The principal change shall be the incorporation to the EU citizens those population. A Rumanian or Bulgarian shall not be any more considered as immigrant, because he will be one of the European citizenship. That is no longer international relationships instead of internal European migration fluxes.
At the end the European integration shall include, with this step, two more European nation that, specially Rumania with the Latin alphabet and the Latin family language, the Romanian (although the roman empire only remained there 40 years) stands up with a western culture. Bulgaria, on the other side, uses the European currency very usually inside the nation. So the full integration shall be cultural and procedimentally “easy”.
The only problems may be the corruption, the agriculture based economy (with the problems to Common Agriculture Policy) and the helps for development. The magnitudes of aid needed will be huge in numbers. But the integration of all the countries of Europe is a need, a will and a reality that is built every day and every year. In future Croatia, Macedonia and countries like Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia, Albania, Armenia, Georgia or Azerbaijan may be the next countries to fill what soviet premier said: “the European common house”. Welcome. Bienvenue. Wilkomen. Ongi etorri. Benvinguts.
